Micron and UMC Expand Business Partnership to Strengthen Customer Supply Chain


  According to media reports, memory maker Micron announced on December 1 that it has expanded its business partnership with foundry UMC to secure future supply for Micron's automotive, mobile device and key customers.

  Manish Bhatia, Micron's executive vice president of global operations, said the expanded partnership with UMC will help strengthen the customer supply chain and is an excellent opportunity to deepen collaboration across the semiconductor industry.

  Manish Bhatia emphasized that this partnership will allow Micron to continue to provide key products to automotive and mobile device customers, and looks forward to working with UMC to provide Micron's memory and storage solutions to global customers in the coming years.

  UMC General Manager Wang Shi also said that he is pleased to have the opportunity to work with Micron to meet customer needs, and that collaboration within the semiconductor industry is more critical than ever to meet customers' current and future challenges.

  After years of litigation, UMC and Micron jointly released a joint statement on November 26, announcing a global settlement agreement, each withdrawing its lawsuit against the other, while UMC will pay Micron a lump sum confidential settlement, and the two sides will create business cooperation opportunities together.
